Our History

Christian Books Today was founded during a time when the Catholic Church had banned the Latin Mass and when mainstream denominations were seeming to ignore their longstanding Biblically grounded pasts.

This inspired us to produce such works as the classical Roman Breviary, Latin Mass Daily Missal, the True Devotion to Mary: Restored with the original Latin, and many many more great works of Faith.

Today we look for the positive in working together, acknowledging tradition as received, such that we are a team who come from a variety of Catholic backgrounds, from those who attend the traditional Latin Mass to the more modern liturgies as well as those of us from an Eastern Catholic heritage. Our primary goal remains to provide hard-to-find unique written and audible Catholic works in a way that are affordable and accessible to Catholic families everywhere.

Hence we all agree with the following in the Catechism of the Catholic Church which states "The task of giving an authentic interpretation of the Word of God, whether in its written form or in the form of Tradition, has been entrusted to the living teaching office of the Church alone. Its authority in this matter is exercised in the name of Jesus Christ. This means that the task of interpretation has been entrusted to the bishops in communion with the successor of Peter, the Bishop of Rome. Yet this Magisterium is not superior to the Word of God, but is its servant. It teaches only what has been handed on to it. At the divine command and with the help of the Holy Spirit, it listens to this devotedly, guards it with dedication and expounds it faithfully. All that it proposes for belief as being divinely revealed is drawn from this single deposit of faith." (85-86 Part One, Article 2, III)
